IMPLICIT CYCLING
The classes at Implicit Cycling in Mission Gorge will push you to your max. Take a Functional Threshold Watt test (offered every Saturday) to determine your unique FTW, enter that number on your bike before class starts, and then hold on. There’s no coasting at Implicit. Every bike gives instant feedback on energy exertion and pedal speed, with lights on the bike taking you through targeted color zones (red lights mean the opposite of stop). Top that off with small class sizes and an energetic instructor, and you’ll be drenched in sweat after the one-hour push.

DEL SOUL FITNESS
Pedal on over to Del Soul Fitness (formerly Ride On Indoor Cycling) in Pacific Beach for a 60-minute heart-pumping cardio workout. Del Soul is all about the classic indoor cycling experience, so you won’t be doing any push-ups or throwing around weights on your bike this boutique studio. Those come AFTER the ride during a Strength Circuit class — 25 minutes of low-impact upper and lower body work. With 12 bikes, class sizes are small, which just means you won’t find anywhere to hide while you’re huffing and puffing up a hill.

CYCOLOGY FITNESS
Tackle your next hill at Cycology in the heart of Encinitas. The boutique studio offers cycling, TRX training, and combo rides to mix up your cardio routine. Cool off after the high-intensity ride with a chilled eucalyptus towel (trust us — they’ll make you earn it).
