Indoor Cycling Magazine is owned and managed by consumers like you. We strive to be united with the community in supporting smart buying choices while reducing any bad experiences. Which is why we have become so large and grown so fast. We honestly do care and love it when our fans are happy.
Since we are Indoor Cycling focused we often come across many online and offline “retailers” who sell Indoor Cycles. One that came across our rader is called “Total Body Experts” located in California. We should have seen the red flag when we saw the word “experts” or “total body”, but we are very naive. We even reached out to them BEFORE we saw the reviews which was our first mistake. We sent a very friendly email to the “ceo” Marc Erickson and invited him to partner with us. However the Total Body Expert Marc Erickson to this day has still not replied. Either he is too good for us or he does not want to get in any more trouble. We would have even been very grateful if he replied with a “no thank you”, however, not one reply. Which of course raised many red flags. As such. A few days later we did a little research and were very troubled to read reviews like this:
Do not do business with Total Body Experts. We had the worst buying experiences of our life dealing with this company. I do not wish what we went through on anyone. We purchased a factory refurbished and rebuilt woodway treadmill for $5300+. Parts were gaurenteed for 1 year. We asked many questions and were assured it was “like new”. It took them 6 months to deliver the treadmill. They sent us a a rusty, worn out treadmill that had not been touched by a technician. We rejected the treadmill they delivered. We had to get an Attorney to get them to take it back and refund our money. The employees were difficult to work with. They ignored our emails and gave us the run around during phone conversations. I never complain but I don’t want another person to go through what we went through.

They have a lot to learn when it comes to post-sales customer experience. Ordering on the phone was fairly straightforward and went well. Everything went downhill from that point on. Week I was promised delivery I sent an email to the 4 people in their order confirmation email asking for an update. Zero response. A week later I sent another. Again, zero response. I sent another the same week. nothing again. I called and was told a completely different story on deliveries than when I ordered (6-8 weeks vs. 2-3 weeks). Also was told that they are too busy to read emails. Again I asked for an approximate date so i can plan. Was told they did not know — this is already 3 weeks after the promised delivery. I asked them to let me know ASAP, they promised a callback by Friday…nothing. I would have been fine with a later delivery date but 1) they promised something and completely missed it; 2) were never proactive in sending any updates; 3) everyone had a different story; 4) they never followed up on their promises for updates. I have not yet had the need for any support or service, but am not feeling good about it if I ever have to. And who knows, they may even blacklist me after writing this – but I feel obligated for their own benefit as there is a lot they can improve.
andI filed a dispute with the CC company which they they lost. Total Body Experts is now threatening to report the item stolen and have me arrested.
I ordered a SCHWINN A.C. PERFORMANCE PLUS WITH CARBON BLUE spinning bike. I was promised delivery in 4 weeks. After 4 weeks I called. They said it would be another two weeks. I called again in 2 weeks. They said it would be another two weeks. At that point I told them I wanted the bike either shipped that day or I wanted my money back. They said they just happened to have one down on the dock and could get it out that day. I said OK, then send me the tracking number. They said they would. I did not get it so I call again the next day. They said they would have to to me that day. I still did not get a tracking number. At that point I filed a dispute with the credit card company.
A couple of weeks later I finally received the item. It took more than 7 weeks to finally get the item. I called the dispute department at the credit card company to let them know I received the item. The bank then reversed to credit they gave me when I filed the dispute. Total Body experts lost the dispute with the credit card company because they failed to respond in 45 days. So at this point I have paid for the item. Total Body Experts has lost their dispute. I am working with my bank to find out where the money actually wound up. The price of the item was $2564.00.
They have told me I either need to pay for this a second time, return it to them. If I don’t Total Body Experts is threatening to call the police and report the item stolen and have me arrested. Legally these CC disputes are supposed to be binding once the Credit Card Company has made a decision on them. I had a legitimate reason for filing this dispute. It is not my fault lost it due to their lack of response. I certainly should not have to return an item that I already paid for. I also should not be threatened with arrest while I am trying to work this out with my bank.
After reading reviews like this we are proud to warn the public to exercise due diligence when doing business with “Total Body Experts”. Even the Better Business Bureau, as of March 2018 gave them a C rating
In conclusion. Please exercise caution with the Total Body Experts. And if you have any issues here is the email of Marc Erickson marc@totalbodyexperts.com
