Michael & Jean’s story started 8 years ago after we were introduced by our best friends. We instantly connected because we shared the same passion for adventure and sports. Throughout the years, we have travelled around the world, purchased a home in the trendy Yaletown district of Vancouver, and got a French bulldog, Rocky.
During the summer months, we would often ride around the Stanley Park sea wall on our commuter bikes. As the years progressed, we started to become avid cyclist. We upgraded from our basic commuter bikes to road bikes and absolutely loved the sport that bonded us dearly. During the long and rainy months of winter in Vancouver, we had to delve into a different avenue to fulfill our thirst of cycling. We eventually signed up at Ride Cycle Club, which was conveniently situated, right behind our place. We absolutely loved the atmosphere, the kind staff and the ability to sweat buckets after a week of work.
It only made sense to have our proposal at Ride Cycle Club. After conveying my idea to Julie and Brooke over the phone and asking for their permission and assistance, the plan was set. At the morning of the proposal, the ring was dropped off to Brooke at Ride Cycle Club for safe keepings. We started class promptly at 10:00am like any other Sunday morning. It was the longest 55 minute ride of my life as the anticipation grew stronger and stronger during the class, while time felt like it was on a standstill. With Brooke’s assistance, ambiance lighting was turned on while candles were set in front of Jean’s bike. Kci and Jojo – All my life began to play as the “cool down” song. As the song played, we looked at each other because it was our favourite song. The class was then instructed to shut their eyes and to think of someone special. Our photographer, Michael Sean Lee Photography, entered the Ride Studio with great stealth and got into position. I unclipped off the bike and got on my knee with the wedding ring pointed to Jean. The class was then instructed to open their eyes and our moment together was euphoric.
